I think most of the people who have been telling us about the terrible foundations of the country would say that we need to yank it out by the roots, burn the ground it flourished in and salt what remains so that we can build something better. Which will take time and the destruction of a lot of deeply cherished ideals and institutions in service of actively rebuilding them to not be based in white supremacy.
