It was quite a change, moving here from Phoenix. I've now experienced -20f to over 120f, which is something. And in the same year! The thing that vexes me is that most of NM is not inexpensive in the larger cities. Car insurance is comparable to Phoenix, so is housing. The only thing that I've found that cost less was car registration, and that is not a major expenditure.
I'm sure there are places with truly low costs of living, but I haven't seen them. And this is something that constantly ticks me off: middle-class wages have been stagnant for over 30 years, cost of living has not been. But that's the subject of another rant.
