Yep - guaranteed basic income DOES work. And people are more likely to work at something like making art if they don't have to wonder whether they're ever going to eat a full meal again in their life. A full belly is great inspiration. ANd giving homeless people homes turns out to solve the problem of homelessness. Who ever believed all that liberal commie hippie stuff about "helping one's fellow humans" turns out to WORK.(Does anybody remember when the British solved the drug addiction problem by giving the junkies prescriptions for opioids? People can work hard for a living if they have the drugs to dull the pain. (And high-functioning alcoholics can do the same.) I once knew an old news reporter who was never sober a moment in his life. When a major emergency hit the city, Merv handled the reporting with perfect finesse. Then when the threat was avoided. Merv broke down in tears and went for the bottle of bourbon in the bottom left desk drawer.Great at dealing with adversity, but no good at dealing with success.
