WOW.
Just. WOW.
Can't wait to buy the Bluray so I can crank up the volume as my TV's volume is a little anemic at max. I can't route the TV through my stereo, but on BR/DVD I can send the sound from it to my stereo while sending the HDMI straight to the TV.
I've had the soundtrack to Hamilton for several years and have listened to it a couple of dozen times and know it fairly well. While the soundtrack does contain the story, there's so much to the story that it doesn't contain. And the choreography! Man, the choreography is great!
This was filmed over three days in 2016. It has the original cast. Technically the actor who was the first to play King George had already left, but he came back for these performances, so the gang got back together. Shortly after this taping was complete, the cast began to disperse.
On Disney+, there's also a 30 minute cast discussion. Lin Manuel says that he expects in the first two days of this releasing that more people will see it on Disney+ than have seen it in theaters over its entire run. It may well have happened on the first day. I know that I'll be watching it at least a couple more times in the month that I'll be keeping Disney+ as I'm not going to continue paying for it as I've also got Netflix, HBO, and I'm obligated to a year of base Hulu at a low price. I don't need Disney+.
I REALLY want to see Hamilton in a theater! I imagine my best bet is that eventually it may become a fixture in Las Vegas, and that might be my best shot.
